🧱 The Building Blocks of Communication
Listening and talking are skills which are developed simultaneously. Children are taught how to relate well, comprehend others and be able to articulate themselves.
Key Domains of Language Development
👂 1. Listening and Attention
How well your child can tune in to his/her environment, whether it is sounds, voices, and spoken speech - listening to stories, following instructions and concentration with more and more longer periods of time. Listening skills will make children acquire new words and participate in conversation.
🧠 2. Understanding (Receptive Language)
How well your child comprehends what other people say-following instructions, answering the questions and understanding. Speaking is preceded by understanding. Kids understand language prior to being able to make use of language.
💬 3. Speaking (Expressive Language)
How your child can convey thoughts, needs, and ideas through words, sentence-constructions, vocabulary and through complex constructions. Exposure to speech enables the child to express their ideas, seek clarifications, find friends, and engage in learning.
🔊 4. Speech Sounds and Clarity
How clearly your child can articulate words which means that he/she can produce various speech sounds and combine them to form words and have accurate pronunciation. Articulation facilitates comprehension of children and develops communication skills.
👥 5. Social Communication
The way your child speaks in social interactions like taking turns in a conversation or how they learn body language and are able to modify it according to different listeners and how they remain on topic. Through social communication skills, children are able to make friends and be able to deal with social situations.
